Look Younger with a Faith Lift

There is no doubt about it, Stress effects on many levels. Worst of all, the more we stress, the more damage we do to our body and the more we age. The grey hairs sprouting after a stressful event are evidence to this fact. Stress weakens us, it breaks down our energy and fills us with doubt, fear and anxiety. Stress effects us physically, emotionally and behaviorally.

Physically it can cause headaches, muscle pain, chest pain, fatigue, loss of libido, digestion issues , and  disturbed sleep patterns. Emotionally it can cause anxiety, restlessness, overwhelm, motivation, sadness, depression, anger and frustration. Behaviorally it causes reactiveness, anger, overwhelm, tears, over eating, under eating, addictions and substance abuse.
The key to remember is with each stressful thought, we stimulate the nervous system and cause a release of a stress hormone from called Cortisol from the arenal glands. Cortisol is affecting us on so many levels and it seems scientists are only now  awakening to the damage this stress hormone is doing to us. If we look at many of the challenges we face in depression, substance abuse, eating disorders and illnesses we can see that bubbling within us, throughout our stress is Cortisol.
When we trigger the nervous system and release the yucky stuff we trigger our flight or fight mode. The problem here is that most of us are stuck in fight/flight and we have forgotten how to relax and calm the body. We are constantly triggered, constantly on go mode and constantly fighting stress within us. We end up having so much Cortisol running through our bodies that we throw the entire body out of balance. This also throws out our sugar levels which creates an imbalance (to say the least) in our eating.
Fight or Flight mode means we are in constant combat mode or fight mode. It means we are constantly reacting to the world around us, constantly trying to solve problems, constantly trying to push harder and constantly in a survival mode. And what is motivating us beneath the surface is our emotions of fear. Fear triggers us into fight or flight.
We may fear a person judging us which throws us into self protection, or the fear of rejection or the fear of failure. Any type of fear will trigger us and throw us into our usual, habitual pattern of fear and stress. We look like beautiful swans gliding through life, looking so graceful and together, when in reality, below the surface we are paddling like crazy. Totally stressed  and forever processing and “dealing with life.”
We can learn to switch off the stress response by activating our relaxation response. What is that, you ask? Well our relaxation response is the part of the nervous system which allows us to let go and relax and get off our “go mode.” The stress response is the accelerator and the relaxation response is the breaks. And the best part is that when we trigger our relaxation response we then release all the positive hormones like serotonin, endorphins, Oxytocin, melatonin and we balance our Cortisol levels. We then bring back the balance in our body and our mind. In this space the body can rest and rejuvinate
So how can we learn to release fear and switch off our relaxation mode?
Practically speaking we need to create an environment where we can relax through meditation, yoga, tai chi, art, dance, singing…something which completely calms you, stills you, grounds you and allows you to experience joy.
Emotionally, energetically and spiritually speaking… the key to reducing stress, the key to aging slowly and the key to calmness is to flip fear into faith.
Faith is the emotion which brings us total relaxation. When we feel faith and experience faith the nervous system goes into neutral, clicks into the relaxation mode and we feel calm. When we feel faith we release the positive hormones and the body experiences bliss as opposed to stress.
Faith is a knowing that everything is always ok, that there is a higher source power watching over us, protecting us and always guiding us. The key to connecting to faith is to slow down the mind enough to hear the  internal guidance and to follow the guidance.
Faith provides us with emotional resilience. It is like a shield of protective light which lights us up from within. Faith connects us with our higher self and higher intelligence. In our higher intelligence we have wisdom, grace, courage and strength. Faith allows us to float through life without paddling and it allows us to surrender our fear.
Faith is a three step process
 The Process of Faith
My Father taught me that these three pillars are the foundation to personal growth.
Trust allows you to surrender your fear…to trust in your moment to moment choices and to know that where you are RIGHT NOW is exactly where you are meant to be. It allows you to trust that everything is always happening for your greater good and growth. When you trust yourself in every moment you find the strength, the focus and the power to get yourself through whatever you are going through.
Imagine yourself in a boat on the shoreline…tear up your map and bring your oars into the boat…now push yourself off from the shoreline towards that horizon without anything. What is going to enable you to float off into that horizon confidently and in Faith?
Trust, right? When you trust that you will know how to ride any wave that comes your way, to know that you will get through any storm…and to trust that you will be guided on which direction to take…when you completely surrender to trust, you embrace your courage, your strength, your sense of adventure to life and embrace any challenge ahead of you with that energy and that attitude.
Belief allows you to believe in yourself.  When you believe in yourself you connect with your inner resources and inner qualities which are needed to guide you towards success. Belief allows you to have positive self talk which allows you to work towards what you want or what you need to do rather then what you don’t want. For example if you say, I cannot do this because I am afraid to fail, then you are programming yourself into fear and into failure. Now when you say to yourself, I believe I can succeed and will find a way to succeed, then you program your focus and your mind in a completely different direction.
What separates extraordinary people from ordinary people is there foundation of belief and trust in themselves. They embrace risk, they take the plunge because they simply believe they can.
Trust and Belief will allow you to build a strong foundation of Faith and when you are in faith you can relax, glide through life with a greater ease, relax your nervous system, allow your body to rest, rejuvenate and look and feel younger, with more enthusiasm, more strength and less grey hair and wrinkles.
Enjoy!
