How to Write an Annual Personal Plan in 10 Easy Steps

Just like doing a business plan, a personal plan gives you direction, focus and clarity around what you want to gain this year, why you want it and how specifically you are going to get there. With clarity you can put your manifestation magic to work and attract what you truly desire.

As a life coach, I help people gain clarity and focus to create their ideal vision and once they have their vision created we define strategic and easy steps to bring their vision to life and make it their reality.

It is enough of living according to the standards of others and it is enough of trying to be who others need you to be. THIS YEAR is your year to define and create your happiness and absolutely THRIVE. And when I say THRIVE, I mean leave your survival mode (fight/flight mode) in 2014 and switch on your thriving mode.
So to help you create your plan, here are my top 10 coaching questions to create an authentically happy personal plan.

(This exercise is best done in a quiet place where you can get into a state of contemplation and reflection, I suggest early morning before anyone is up when it is easy to think and the energy is majestic)

REFLECTION on last year…

When you look back on last year, what were your biggest challenges and why?
☼ TIPS FOR ANSWERING THIS QUESTION…
Think of the times when you were stopped in your tracks or when you felt tired and drained. Think of the times when you could hear your negative self.
For example, was there a time when you were focused on something and then self sabotage kicked in?

How did you overcome those challenges?
☼ TIPS FOR ANSWERING THIS QUESTION…
Think of the actions you took, and the thoughts you had to turn your situation around. What support did you have and what solutions did you find?

What lessons (growth) did you learn from those challenges?
☼ TIPS FOR ANSWERING THIS QUESTION…
Every difficult situation gives us an opportunity to learn a lesson. When we realize these lessons we experience growth and turn a challenge into a fantastic learning opportunity. Think carefully about what you learnt through any adversity you experienced?

How can you put those lessons to use moving forwards?
☼ TIPS FOR ANSWERING THIS QUESTION…
Use practical situations on how you can apply these learnings to real situations

What were your happiest moments of 2014?
☼ TIPS FOR ANSWERING THIS QUESTION…
Think about the simple moments when you felt authentically happy. These are the moments when your soul was truly happy and you felt free, calm, peaceful and energized.

FOCUS ON THIS YEAR…

What would you ultimately like to achieve this year?
☼ TIPS FOR ANSWERING THIS QUESTION…
Pick one area of your life which would have an impact on all the other areas of your life. For example if you got more healthy and energized, how would that effect your relationships, your career, etc

What would you gain by achieving this goal?
☼ TIPS FOR ANSWERING THIS QUESTION…
This answer represents your values and connecting to your values gives you strong emotional leverage to stay focused and propel you forwards.

What obstacles are going to get in your way?
☼ TIPS FOR ANSWERING THIS QUESTION…
This is your time to brainstorm what or who will drain you. So think about people that bring you down as well as thoughts and beliefs (fears) which will stop you in your tracks

How will you overcome these obstacles?
☼ TIPS FOR ANSWERING THIS QUESTION…
Think of what support you need, what beliefs you need to have, what your inner language should be and what positive steps you can make.

What are at least 3 action steps you can take to achieve what you want?
☼ TIPS FOR ANSWERING THIS QUESTION…
These steps become your action plan and you can break down these steps even further to help them be even more achievable.
Let these action steps become your daily habits, because your habits and what you do every day repetitively ultimately create what you get.

Once you get this main area of your life started, you can extend this plan to all the other key areas in your life: Finance, Intimate Relationship, Social Relationships, personal growth, physical environment, career, education, health and fitness and Me time.

May this year bring you everything you truly desire because it is your birthright to live an authentically happy life which lights up your soul!

To your truth and freedom,

Why do we need the Ego?

Why do we have an EGO?

This is a question I am always asked and always think about. Why do we have this negative side which holds us back, why do we keep ourselves small?

I was listening to a fantastic online class on Kabbalah the other night and they covered this topic which I thought was fascinating. I've been thinking about it all week.

Before we get into it, let me clarify what I mean by EGO? In my coaching model, which I am sure you know by now we have two sides of ourselves, we have our EGO and our ESSENCE. These two sides create a polar pull duality, which means they are constantly creating two opposing realities which exist in our consciousness at the same time. Reality therefore becomes whichever one we decide to follow.

Our Ego is the personality which is formed in childhood. The ego is created in reaction to our world around us and encompasses all our beliefs we see true about the world. The Ego forms our perceptions and decisions of what is best for us as the EGO's main goal is self survival. However, because the EGO is created as a reaction it is actually coming from fear, which is created in the mind.So our EGO is our fear and at the core we only have 3 core fears- I am not worthy, I am not good enough and I am not loved.

From these false perceptions we create our self esteem and self worth. And because this EGO perspective only views 1% of our reality we can see that if we live our lives through the drives of the EGO we will limit ourselves as we will only go as far as our belief system lets us go. The ego creates separation, confusion, instability, frustration, anger and feels heavy in the head.

Our Essence, on the other hand symbolizes our true nature. It is us minus our fear. The Essence is the blueprint of your soul and is made up of your core values. The Essence knows no fear as it is pure energy. It only understands purity and therefore is made up of wisdom, compassion, joy, courage, gratitude, respect and trust. These virtues are your higher intelligence which is ultimately your truth. Your essence is your full potential and is represented by an internal light which seems to guide us. When we are connected to our essence we feel light, we feel free, we feel empowered, strong, confident and proud.

We can therefore say that Essence and the Ego are the light and darkness
within us. Together they create what I call the Polar Pull Duality.

The Polar Pull Duality
We all feel it...the two voices continuously influencing us- one guiding us to our truth, one guiding us from our fear. Why do we need this duality and how can we find a point of balance?

The Ego is amplified when we give energy to it- we all know what happens when we self indulge in negative thoughts. We turn on the pity party and fall down the rabbit hole into a deep dark pit which some days feels impossible to get out of.

So why do we need this duality?

In order to feel fulfilled we need a challenge. If something comes too easily to us we tend to lack appreciation for it. When we are challenged we have a feeling like we earned it and so recognize the fragility of it.

Therefore the ego can be this challenge. From this perspective the Ego becomes a challenging force to direct us towards our greatness. Rather then becoming the ego we can observe our habitual behavior and take a pause to respond in a way which will empower us. Every time you challenge that habitual behavior you will grow and better yourself.

Key Points to play with!
  • This requires mindfulness- you must be able to step back, pause and observe your ego behavior
  • You must have the awareness of who you are in your higher self(your essence)
  • You must have the tenacity, focus and will to change
  • You must be prepared to feel the pain of the transition, because each time you feel pain it means you are outside your comfort zone and will therefore grow.
  • You must be inspired and dedicated to be your essence.

With this focus you can shift your ego behavior and truly reach your full potential.  The Ego with this perspective becomes a powerful influence to challenge you to reach your full potential. Go for it...this is your birthright!

To your truth and freedom with lots and lots of love,

Cheryne

Learning the Art of Patience

How many times have you missed out on something all because you never waited long enough to see it through? Perhaps one of our greatest life lessons for many of us is to learn The Art of Being Patient.

Everything in our lives is designed to make us go faster, do more, be more productive and happen instantly. That is fine if you are a computer being ruled by an algorithm or coding which defines you, but we are part of nature and nature does not work that way. A tree does not just become a tree, a field of grass does not instantly grow, however because of what technology is doing around us we have altered our expectations on nature as well as on ourselves. We expect things to happen now, we have lost our ability to wait and see things through and as a result we are not allowing situations to grow organically and are deleting them way before their true “down load time is complete.” We have lost the art of being patient and live in a “download now” society, where we want things done now and have no patience to wait.

The problem with the impatience is that our expectations of people (Human Beings encoded by nature) are often not met leading us to feel disappointed and in time resentful. This creates frustration and anger and leads us to disrespect a person rather than embrace compassion and understanding. In fact for most of us we are too impatient for compassion and understanding.

I love Robin Sharma’s view on Patience…

Patience keeps us grounded and ensures we evolve as nature intended. Patience ensures that step by step we learn the lessons we need to learn and each step allows us to recognize our strengths. Patience allows us to enjoy the journey without worrying about the future or placing unrealistic expectations on ourselves and others.

Here are 5 steps to help you break down the process and learn The Art of Being Patient:

1.    BREATHE

We have been given the best self regulation tool to manage our emotions moment by moment. This tool is our breath. Our breath helps calm the nervous system by altering and slowing down our brain waves. As the brain waves slow down so do all the other bodily systems-  heart rate slows down, muscles relax, adrenals relax and we begin to have positive hormones flowing through our systems rather than Adrenalin and Cortisol. By calming yourself with your breath you allow the body to come off its stress mode and utilize higher parts of the brain which in turn allow you to monitor your responses rather than react from the emotional brain.

This is key in building patience as your breath can help you manage situations by keeping you calm and focused as opposed to stressed and reactive. As your frustration, anger, overload or overwhelm builds begin to focus on your breath and begin to bring yourself back into a state of calm. (Read previous post, The Power of Your Breath)

2.    BE PRESENT

By focusing on your breath you will then have the ability to be in the NOW and embrace the present moment. Fear is often us replaying the past or moving into expectations or predictions of the future. And when we are in the past or the future we are not in the now and miss the opportunities which present themselves in this present moment.

In last week’s post I wrote about the process of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. Imagine the caterpillar lost patience in the cocoon? Imagine he decided it was too frustrating, too long, too painful and simply had  enough. If that was the case we would live in butterflyless world. We would miss out on this beautiful symbol of transformation and freedom…all because of impatience.

Being present allows you to focus on what is around you and enjoy the journey and the joy that is in the present moment. Everything is happening in its time which means that every stage of growth is important and must be embraced.

3.    LET GO OF CONTROL

Out of impatience and fear we control. Just think of your language…I am sure it is filled with musts, shoulds and have-tos. I am sure it is fueled with frustration, demands and expectations.

Learning to let go allows you to be patience and remain confident that everything is happening for a good reason.

4.    BE ORGANIC

By letting go and staying confident we allow situations to remain organic. We allow relationships, people and all situations to run their natural lifecycle. We get out of the way and allow nature to grow.

5.    TRUST

By letting go we embrace trust. Trust allows us to embrace uncertainty and trust that everything is happening as it needs to and for our greater growth. Trust allows us to focus, allows us to believe and allows us to focus on our inner resources and resilience rather than the problem. Trust instantly calms us and can be seen as the foundation of all mental health as when we are in Trust we are not in fear and when we are not in fear we are being our true selves and not the Ego (fearful) self.

Now that we are back in our natural state we can come back to positive emotions like joy and gratitude which bring us back into our natural state of play and fun, making all situations easier and more tolerable. Most importantly we can step back, let go and be patient, knowing that everything will work out in the end, and if it hasn't worked out yet…then it’s not the end…

Rule #2 - From Pain Comes Growth

Freud put it best when he said we are a society which does more to avoid pain then seek pleasure.

How many times do we avoid difficult situations, avoid difficult conversations, move away from challenging relationships or avoid the hard work we need to do all because it feels TOO painful?

Most of us exist in the safety of our comfort zone fearing the pain. Instead of feeling the pain and embracing it, we look for anything we can to numb ourselves or distract ourselves from feeling pain.

Alcohol, drugs, sex, shopping, cleaning, worrying...all of these, although can be pleasurable are the vices employed to help us avoid pain. In fact most of these substances fill the void the pain is causing and distract us. Another coping strategy is dissociation, whereby we disassociate from our feelings and numb ourselves from pain in order to cope. In time though, our emotions become desensitized and we loose touch with what we are feeling in order to survive. This survival mode of non feeling becomes our comfort zone, if we cannot feel, then we are safe.

But what if the pain within the comfort zone grows too big? What if there was more pain in staying the same then in changing and feeling? What if we began to see how much we are missing out on playing safe? What if we were able to reframe pain into a positive and embrace all possible challenges and pain with powerful tools to guide us through? What if we began to see pain as our pathway to growth?

When I commenced my Self Development journey I set myself 3 rules to ensure I challenged myself to do "the work." RULE #1  you read about last year and my second rule I set for myself was to see all PAIN as an opportunity for GROWTH!

When I embraced this rule it meant that I could no longer avoid difficult decisions or situations. I could no longer avoid the conversations, I could no longer NOT FEEL... I would take a deep breath and enter the pain, knowing that I would come through the other end with powerful growth.

I have taken myself into relationships and situations where most people wouldn't dare to go. I embraced the pain and the discomfort becauseI knew the journey was helping me break through layers of fear and layers of EGOOOO. There was a voice deep within me which knew that my only way to personal freedom was through the pain, and that freedom was my reward for the patience, persistence and perseverance of pain.

One of my weaknesses I observed in myself was my co-dependency in relationships. I would loose myself in a relationship because of my fear of rejection and abandonment and become dependent on my partner. I had a great need to be loved and if I was loved then I was happy as I felt worthy. This need was almost a handicap as the despair I would feel outside of a relationship and the yearning I felt to be loved was at times crippling me and I could never feel freedom as there was always this sense of anxiety.

And then I met a soul mate... this was an intense and powerful connection which had such strong karma that I knew I had to experience it no matter what logic and reason was saying around me.My head was screaming out warning signals and my friends could not understand what I was doing but deep within I knew I had to enter this relationship. In this relationship I experienced lies, deceit, stress, worry and lots of pain. Yet I embraced my rule...from Pain Comes Growth. There was something intuitively guiding me to stay and go through it.

For three years I went on this roller coaster of pain and I could not understand why I was so drawn to it and why it pulled me in so greatly and magnetically. We went up we went down, we went up and down again until there was no where to go. But when we reached that rock bottom, the most miraculous emotions began to unfold within me.

I began to feel a great sense of personal power, I began to experience a great sense of control and I began to notice that the need to love myself and do what was right for me was greater then the need to be loved. I began to feel confident to stand alone, I began to trust myself and respect myself and began to make choices for me. I began to use my voice and speak my truth and I slowly began to notice that the "old, codependent me" was gone.  I found my strength and my truth on the other end of pain.

As soul mates we came to each other to create great change and it was only through the process and through the journey outside of my comfort zone where I found me. We came to heal each other and expose the parts of us which were stagnant and holding us back from truth and freedom. And in this strength I began to observe all the lessons I had learnt from this special man...teaching me about how to read my energy, understand my intuition, I learnt about heart connection, I learnt how to truly love, I learnt how to truly love myself and I learnt how to completely let go and forgive. All of this was a result of pain. I learnt about my inner resources: Courage, Compassion, Truth, and Wisdom.

I began to have a completely different perspective of pain. I began to realize that pain is needed for growth, so I made other bold decisions which took me into additional levels of growth. When challenges come to me now, I embrace them as a new opportunity of growth. I face the pain knowing there will be radiating light on the other side.

And the best gift I got through the whole journey was the eventual meeting of my true twin flame and life partner. Here I realized that everything I ultimately was going through in the pain was my Sundance..my initiation period, preparing me to step into the true qualities I am today, the true qualities which helped me recognize my twin when we met, the qualities which ensure this relationship is in a state of truth, balance, freedom and bliss.

This is just like the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly. The caterpillar embraces the pain of change. He goes into a dark, uncomfortable crystalis where he sheds his entire being. He turns to goo and waits patiently through the cycle of growth. But as those dark parts of him shed, he transforms into beauty, he transforms into the magnificence of the butterfly where we experiences the ultimate levels of bliss, joy and freedom.

To truly embrace the rule of from PAIN comes GROWTH demands the use of these emotional tools:

Vulnerability
In order to confront situations head on you have to allow yourself to be vulnerable. This means stepping  into the rawness of your truth and see vulnerability as a strength not a weakness. We have to work through the pain and feel the vulnerability of pain with positivity of knowing it is for our greater good. Here, vulnerability then means truth and authenticity, two resources which allow your true self to rise to the surface.

Courage
In order to journey into the pain you must have courage. Courage allows you to dare to go where others wouldn't dare! It gives you the momentum to step outside of your comfort zone. Courage is about gut strength, core strength to know that all you have to to do is hold on during the storm, hold on confidently, hold on bravely and hold on boldly knowing that you can.

Optimism

With optimism you can embrace the bigger picture and look beyond your current situation. This allows you to focus on the positives and move towards what you want, who you can be and where you truly need to go. Finding one piece of joy or positivity in a difficult situation and holding onto that focus allows you to jump over the obstacles and the barriers in your way. Optimism allows you to focus on your greater goal and creates a future pull momentum.

Resilience

Resilience is the key to growth and the key to living a bold adventurous life. It allows you to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep going. It allows you to notice the small signs of growth and to focus on the growth. It allows you to make courageous decisions and embrace the painful situations because with each time you fall and get back up you learn more and more about yourself.

So if you are finding yourself in a state of pain avoidance embrace these qualities. Take a deep breath, find something grounding to hold on to and enjoy the ride because magnificence awaits you on the other side.

To your truth and freedom with lots and lots of love,

Cheryne

How to Manifest at the Speed of Light

Welcome to 2013 and welcome to my first post for this amazing year ahead. I have heard many people referring to this year as the beginning of the Golden Age as this year represents the golden energy field of light we have entered. And that is exactly how this year has felt so far…golden.

There was a major build up to the 21/12/12 and the most significant shift did not happen outside of us but it opened within us. Spiritually and energetically we walked through an opening, like walking through an opened door and as we walked through it was as if we were re-programmed and all the self development work we have been doing over the last 5-10 years began to make sense.
We walked into the path of alignment…we walked into a path of truth where the world of the EGO no longer exists (so don’t even bother). By path of alignment I mean The Path of Truth, which does not necessarily mean the easiest path, it means that everything not in truth and out of alignment will be healed, will be released, will be let go of in order to bring us into alignment. And when we are in alignment we connect with this golden energy because our vibration within matches the vibration outside.
This Golden Age and alignment comes with some great challenges, as mentioned above, but it also comes with major benefits and ease:
©       Toxic relationships or relationships which do not serve your true self (your higher  self or non-ego self) will be released
©       With this release there is greater Clarity around who you are and what you need
©       With this clarity comes a greater acceptance and understanding of yourself
©       With this self compassion you are able to connect to your heart space which means you can connect with a greater wisdom and higher knowledge because the heart is what exists beyond the Ego mind.
©        As you build the neurons of the heart you develop what is called the HEARTMIND- your ability to see the world as it is and not through the illusion of the Ego mind which is fear (false evidence appearing real)
©       By using your HEARTMIND you can see directly into the heart of another, which means you can see their truth and you longer take anything personally because you now have a greater sense of empathy. This greater sense of empathy means the HEARTMIND has the ability to not only see but to FEEL! This collaboration of senses means you can feel another person’s pain, not only your own, which then keeps you connected to them and builds a greater level of compassion
So this alignment is really a union between the mind and the heart whereby we have taught the mind to feel and the heart to think. This collaboration of senses leads us into greater connections within ourselves because we can feel more, we connect to our energy more and when we connect with our energy on a greater level, the best news is… we increase our ability to manifest and attract what is truly ours. In this connection and in this alignment we are placed on our true path, which means Manifestation is easier and more instant. This is the key to understanding the energy of the golden age- it is fast, clear, it is powerful which means whatever you are thinking moves at a greater pace, which means when you have clarity within your HEARTMIND you can almost instantly manifest what you want. Let me explain…
Firstly, what is Manifestation? Manifestation is your ability to create and draw towards you what you desire through your emotions. This means the level and the quality of your emotions determines the level and the quality of your manifestation. The process of manifestation looks like this…
The Process of Manifestation

As we have a thought it creates a feeling in the body (The HEARTMIND). The feeling in the HEARTMIND creates an emotion which can be a positive emotion or a negative emotion. Because Emotion = Energy in Motion this energy is then released into the external energy field and if it is a positive emotion like Joy it will vibrate on a high level and will return to you even greater levels of joy and if it is a negative emotion like sadness, fear, guilt, resentment or shame it will vibrate on a low level and will return to you that same lower vibration.  (See previous post)
And as mentioned earlier, in this new Golden Age, this energy process is accelerated and the energy moves faster which means this process happens faster. The more you are connected with it, which means being even more attuned to your emotion (your energy), the greater the intensity of your manifestation.
So the key is positive thought as that begins the whole process! And the key to positive thought means believing and trusting in yourself more, which happens easily as we connect with the HEARTMND. Positive Manifestation unfolds because the true alignment that occurs is the alignment between your desires and your beliefs so ultimately the key now is thinking positively, using that emotion to raise your vibration and manifest from that vibration. This is about building the neurons and the muscles of the HEARTMIND not the EGOMIND which at the moment (because of our conditioning) is the stronger process. All we need to do is strengthen the neurological pathways and we will recondition ourselves, which means the more we build the awareness, the understanding and the knowledge of the HEARTMIND the more dominant the process of the HEARTMIND. We then connect with our true power and instantly manifest.
So, here are some great tips on How to manifest from your HEARTMIND and align your deepest desires and your highest beliefs. It’s as easy as ABC…
Act on Inspiration©Build & strengthen the HEARTMIND©Consistent positive thinking
(Let’s start with the last one)
Consistent positive thinking
This means we must condition ourselves to think positive and break the addiction of negative thinking. The best and most powerful way to re-condition yourself is to re-program all your senses and ensure all your senses are working to program your thoughts. We process the world around us through our five senses, every thought, every feeling, every behavior is a result of some form of sensory data we have absorbed or perceived from the world around us. To reprogram your senses focus on the following:
Visual processing- majority of us take in information about the world around us visually. This includes what we see around us, imagination, visualization and day dreaming. To manifest and program yourself positively through the visual sensory means you surround yourself with positive visual images. Examples of these include pictures, affirmations written where you can see them, tattoos, jewelry with positive message, and visualization exercises. A powerful and effective visual tool for manifestation is a Vision Board. A vision board is a collection of positive imagery and goals to help program the subconscious every day through visual reinforcement and stimulation.
Meditations and visualizations also help you to visualize exactly what you want, how you want to feel and where you are going.
Auditory processing- this includes the sounds we hear around us and the language we use in our inner thoughts. Saying positive affirmations to yourself consistently programs the audio senses and allows all your internal processing to be positively focused.  Another powerful tool is music as music is one of the most powerful auditory reinforcements which instantly alter your mood and attitude. This also includes your listening ability and the conversations you  have with the people around you. Eliminating negative conversations like gossip will keep you in a positive state.
Kinesthetic processing includes your feelings, intuition and emotion. By building your awareness to feeling positive means you build this muscle. This includes becoming attuned with your feelings, with your intuition, and connecting with positive people around you. Your kinesthetic (feeling) sense is linked to your energy within and the energy outside of you, so negative or toxic environments which make you feel stressed will drain you of your life force and make you feel negative. Being in a positive environment will feel completely different. This also includes building the connections and the awareness of how your body reacts to situations- noticing how you feel when you have a thought and how you feel in specific environments.
Gustatory and olfactory processing is also important. Using soothing essential oils and smelling the beauty of nature always makes us feel better. Also eating well makes us feel positive and elevates our vibration.
Build and Strengthen the HEARTMIND
As you build your awareness of your HEARTMIND and as you develop the feelings and connections of your heart, you build the neurological connections. Here is my favourite breathing exercise to instantly open and strengthen the HEARTMIND.

Close your eyes and bring your awareness to your heart centre. This includes the area around your breast bone as well as your lungs. Become aware of your breath and focus your breathing to your heart centre. On your inhale breath breathe in fresh positive oxygen and light into your heart. Feel it fill the cave of your heart completely all the way to the back of your heart. The inner heart will feel like a sling shot being pulled towards the spine. As you exhale, release the breath from the back of the heart and breathe out all the way and feel the breath expand your heart centre in front of you and all around you. Feel the breath create ripples of light and energy all around your body. With each breath increase the intensity and expand further and further. After around 6 breaths you will begin to notice a complete change in your energy field. You can enhance this process even further by thinking thoughts of gratitude and appreciation and visualizing the goal you are intending to manifest at the same time as breathing.
 Act Always on Inspiration
This is key because if we do the work above and then do not follow through on any inspiration we get, then it will all go to waste. Act on every thought, no matter how trivial or irrelevant it seems as this is the key step to manifestation. Embrace every situation with trust, belief and faith knowing it is what you are manifesting for your greater good and growth.
So jump into 2013 with a burst of positive enthusiasm because with this golden energy you  can achieve whatever truth is within your heart. We will build greater levels of human consciousness, greater levels of creativity and greater levels of wisdom. The best is we will move away from a society dominated by the Egomind and move into a world which always knows how to think through the HEARTMIND.
"To Infinity and beyond…" The great Buzz Light-year
To your truth and freedom with lots and lots of love,

Cheryne
